What to do with Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill in Week 10 fantasy football

Patrick Mahomes should return this week and that’s good news for Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, but how good?

All signs point toward Patrick Mahomes returning this week from his dislocated knee he suffered in Week 7. Matt Moore has performed admirably in his stead, but there’s no replacing the arm talent of Mahomes. Mahomes might not be the same quarterback in his first game back as he was pre-injury, but he’ll still make throws you’ll need to rewind and watch a few times over.

Sammy Watkins missed three games with a hamstring injury and has yet to come close to his incredible Week 1 performance of 198 yards and three touchdowns, but he remains a big part of the offense. He’s had two games since returning from his injury, which means he’s had Moore as his quarterback. In those two games, he’s caught 12-of-18 targets for 108 yards. Those 18 targets lead the team these last two weeks.

Tyreek Hill returned from his injury in Week 6 and had both Mahomes and Moore throwing to him over the last four games. In those games, he’s caught four touchdowns and had his biggest yardage game last week with 140 yards on six receptions with Moore. Nothing has slowed down Hill for fantasy except injuries this season.

Fantasy football analysis: Kansas City Chiefs WRs Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill

Kansas City will head to Tennessee to take on a Titans team that just lost starting cornerback Malcolm Butler and ranks 20th in DVOA against the pass while also missing their top defensive tackle, Jurrell Casey.

Hill is an obvious start in any week, but with Butler out and Mahomes back, his Top-3 upside is in full effect. The real question is if Sammy Watkins is worth a play. His floor has been low, but he’s only had one game under five receptions or eight targets. He’s working underneath mostly and needs YAC or a touchdown to reach his upside, but his opportunities keep him somewhat safe, and Kansas City’s offense with Mahomes under center always gives him good upside.

Traditional Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Hill everywhere as a high-end WR1.

Start Watkins as a WR3.

DraftKings DFS Recommendation

Tyreek hill costs $7,700 while Watkins comes in at $5,100. Hill is an excellent upside start who is worth cash game consideration, but I’ll likely use him more often in GPPs with Mahomes. Watkins is also someone I would pair with Mahomes in GPPs, as he will probably have low ownership while his target load has remained high.
