The Patriots waived Josh Gordon from their injured reserve list on Thursday and now he’s a member of a new team 24 hours later. We wait for word on who.

Josh Gordon playing update

Pete Carroll said Gordon will not play this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the team will take a look at him next week for Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers, per NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo. Carroll said “we’ll see what he looks like,” and it will likely deal primarily with how his knee is looking coming off the injury.

Josh Gordon waivers update

The Seattle Seahawks have successfully claimed Josh Gordon off waivers, per multiple national media reports. He joins a a wide receiver corps led by Tyler Lockett and strong red zone threat DK Metcalf. It makes Russell Wilson’s life easier and is a solid upgrade for this passing game. Lockett currently leads the team with 46 receptions for 615 yards. DK Metcalf is second with 23 receptions for 402 yards. He and Lockett both have four touchdowns. Lockett remains a strong PPR presence, while Gordon likely downgrades Metcalf’s fantasy value a little bit.

The NFL ran through its daily waiver wire process, and former New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon has been claimed. We’re still waiting to hear which team it is. We’ll update as soon as we know more, but regardless, he returns to fantasy football relevance.

The Patriots released him off their injured reserve list, and the fact that it happened after the trade deadline meant he would first need to be claimed. New England placed Gordon on IR due to a knee injury. Shortly after that happened, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported the IR stay would only be a week or two.

Fantasy football analysis: WR Josh Gordon

Gordon was off to a solid enough start in six games with the Patriots. He had 20 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown. They weren’t monster numbers, but they were solid enough to justify rostering and occasionally starting. He’ll likely move into a starting role with whomever claims him.
