Point spread, total, moneyline and more for Jets-Dolphins in Week 9

The Dolphins host the Jets for an AFC East matchup. It’s a great spot for Bell and Darnold to get back on track, but will they? We break down notable odds, including the point spread, trends, and ATS history.

This Sunday, experience an AFC East battle for the ages. The 1-6 New York Jets take flight to Florida to crash into the 0-7 Miami Dolphins. Who will emerge victorious?

All sarcasm aside, this is actually one of the week’s most interesting games to bet on. I highlighted it in my Early Look Odds article from Monday when the spread was +4.5 to Miami. I was thinking the line would grow, but instead it has gone down to +3.5. In my mind, that makes it an even easier bet. The NFL trade deadline occurred this week, and, despite some rumors, Sam Darnold (DFS salary $5,900) will still have Robby Anderson ($5,500) to throw to. We can acknowledge Darnold’s recent woes (seven interceptions in two games), but he’s also thrown two touchdowns in each of the last two. The Dolphins have the fewest takeaways (three) this season, which makes for a perfect opponent for Darnold to finally shake those ghosts.

As we saw on Monday night, Miami just doesn’t have it in them to win. Whether it’s because the play calling is causing the Dolphins to #TankForTua, or because they’re just straight up bad, no one knows for sure. But what we do know is they gave up 27 unanswered points to lose 27-14 to the Steelers. We also know that the Dolphins can’t stop the run. With Le’Veon Bell ($7,700) yet to eclipse 100 rushing yards in a game this season and only reaching the endzone once on the ground, this is exactly what he needs to get going. There were also some trade talks being thrown around about Bell, so those will serve as extra motivation this week.

The Jets haven’t won in Miami since 2015. Now is the time to end the four-year drought. I’d still take New York at -4.5, so I’m obviously sticking with them at -3.5. This is one of the few times that I will pick the Jets to win this season, so enjoy it New York fans.
