The Kansas City Chiefs returned to practice on Wednesday, and wide receiver Sammy Watkins is not practicing, according to Chiefs reporter B.J. Kissel. Tyreek Hill was back at practice in limited fashion.
Watkins injured his hamstring during the Chiefs opening drive of Week 5, and did not return to the game. Byron Pringle replaced him and ended up leading the team with six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Hill injured his shoulder in Week 1 and has been sidelined ever since. He returned to practice last week, putting in three limited sessions. There were reports late in the week that he could be back in time for Week 6, and his continued practicing bodes well.
Fantasy football analysis, Chiefs WRs Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill
This is not an ideal start to the practice week for Watkins, but helpful for Hill. There are two more practices, but if Watkins sits again on Thursday, it would suggest he will not play in Week 6 against the Houston Texans. Hill likely ends up a game-time decision, but if he keeps practicing, this could be the week he returns.
If Hill plays and Watkins does not, fantasy football owners will be left to see what Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, and Byron Pringle can do. All three have had a breakout performance at one time or another in Hill’s absence. There will be plenty of targets after Hill and Travis Kelce, but who gets them is anybody’s guess. And once Sammy Watkins is healthy, it becomes that much more difficult to figure out for the time being.
