Raiders Super Bowl odds on the rise, Rams on the fall

Week 5 closes out Monday, but we’ve already got movement in Super Bowl 54 odds. We break down some notable changes.

The NFL wraps up Week 5 on Monday Night Football with a matchup of the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns, but in the meantime, we had quite the Sunday of NFL action. Most notably, the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs lost their zero to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football.

Colts-Chiefs was the biggest upset by a longshot, but we had some other interesting results. The Oakland Raiders stunned the Chicago Bears in London, building a big first half lead, blowing it in the second half, and then getting a last minute win. We also saw the Denver Broncos finally get Vic Fangio in the win column with a road upset of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Super Bowl 54 odds will be fully updated after Monday Night Football, but in the meantime, we’ve got a look at some movers and shakers coming out of this past week of football. All odds via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Oakland Raiders: +12500 —> +6600

I don’t actually know if the Raiders are a good football team. Sunday’s game felt like a microcosm of their season with a solid showing at one point, a blown lead let, and then a surprising comeback. The Bears are a bad offense combined with what should be a good defense. Regardless, the Raiders a huge boost in their Super Bowl odds, but it’s worth noting they also have the worst odds for any team with a winning record. They have a bye in Week 6, but then they travel to Green Bay and Houston. We’ll know in short order if they’re a contender or pretender.

Los Angeles Rams: +1200 —> +1600

The Rams were a missed Greg Zuerlein field goal away from 4-1, but the Seattle Seahawks got the huge home divisional win instead. The Rams do not appear to be as good as they were last year, but I’m not entirely sure how good they are. Jared Goff made some big plays on Thursday, but he also struggled for significant stretches. They’ll remain in playoff contention, but they’re a hard team to figure out.

Philadelphia Eagles: +1300 —> +1200

The Eagles were expected to trounce the New York Jets, and they did that. Their odds got a boost because Green Bay crushed Dallas at Jerry World. It was not a guaranteed win for Dallas, but the fact that Green Bay beat them so handily raises big questions — particularly about the defense.

Atlanta Falcons: +8000 —> +10000

The Falcons season is on life support following a 53-32 thumping at the hands of the Houston Texans. They get a winnable game at Arizona in Week 6, but it’s hard to see how they turn their season around after that. They have home games against the Rams and Seahawks and then road games against New Orleans and Carolina. They are in serious trouble.
