The Indianapolis Colts took the Kansas City Chiefs zero, handing Patrick Mahomes and company their first loss of the 2019 season. The Colts defense quieted the Chiefs en route to a 19-13 victory. The Colts were as much as an 11-point underdog and won outright.

The Colts improve to 3-2 and are tied with the Houston Texans atop the AFC South. They have a bye in Week 6. The Chiefs drop to 4-1 and have a one-game lead over the Oakland Raiders. They host the Houston Texans in Week 6.

Fantasy football analysis

Patrick Mahomes struggled to get going, and an ankle injury seemed to slow him down midway through the game. Mahomes finished the night 22 of 39 for 321 yards and one touchdown. He opened the night 12 of 15, and things went south from there.

Marlon Mack was a question mark coming into this game, but he was active and a presence. He rushed for 132 yards and added 16 receiving yards. The Colts handed him the ball to close this game out, and he answered the bell. He opened the season with 174 yards and a touchdown, but had been inconsistent much of the past three weeks. It’s helpful to see him get on track.

The big question for the Chiefs heading into this game was what to make of their backfield. Damien Williams returned from a knee injury and re-claimed the starting running back job ahead of LeSean McCoy and Darrel Williams. Damien ended up with nine rushes for 23 yards and three receptions for 15 yards. He was stuffed on a critical fourth down late in the fourth quarter, and continued the struggles we saw before his injury.

Sammy Watkins left the game with a hamstring injury during the team’s opening drive, and did not return. Byron Pringle emerged in his absence, catching six passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. He’ll be an intriguing name to watch on the Week 6 waiver wire considering he loses value when Watkins and Tyreek Hill get healthy. Meanwhile, Mecole Hardman had another solid performance, catching four passes for 79 yards.
