Christian McCaffrey has best fantasy performance of 2019

The Carolina Panthers held off the Jacksonville Jaguars, and they needed every last bit of Christian McCaffrey’s monster fantasy performance.

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey was a regular top five pick in fantasy football, and he continues to prove his value. McCaffrey had his best performance of the season, and what appears to be the top performance in all of fantasy football this season. McCaffrey finished the day with 176 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, six receptions, 61 receiving yards, and one touchdown.

The Panthers needed just about every single yard from McCaffrey in Week 5. They held off the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-27. Gardner Minshew had two shots late in the game inside Panthers territory. He fumbled the ball with just over two minutes remaining on the first drive. The Jaguars defense forced a stop, and Minshew drove into scoring range in the closing seconds. Two Panthers penalties kept the Jaguars last second drive alive, but Minshew couldn’t get the ball to an open receiver as time expired.

Fantasy football analysis, Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey

Through five games, McCaffrey has surpassed 40 fantasy points once, 30 fantasy points once, and 25 fantasy points twice. He had a six point performance in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but otherwise has been a dominant performer. If he stays healthy the rest of the way this season, he’ll likely be the No. 1 pick in 2020 PPR league fantasy drafts, and he’ll push Saquon Barkley for No. 1 pick status in 2020 standard league drafts.
