Giants RB Wayne Gallman editor’s update, 1:58 p.m.
The Giants have declared Wayne Gallman OUT for the remainder of their Week 5 contest. Joe Hilliman is replacing him for the remainder of the game, with Elijhaa Penny to potentially get a little bit of work. Hilliman has two rushes for seven yards midway through the second quarter. The Giants trail the Vikings 13-7, so the game script isn’t flipping yet for the rushing game. Hilliman will be popular on the waiver wire if Gallman and Saquon Barkley are unable to play on the short week heading into Week 6 vs. the New England Patriots.
The New York Giants are trailing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, and their degree of difficulty just increased a lot. Running back Wayne Gallman suffered a head injury on the team’s opening drive, and is being evaluated for a concussion, according to the team.
Gallman had two rushes for 14 yards and suffered the injury on an 11-yard run. Joe Hilliman has replaced him and Elijhaa Penny is the only other active running back on the Giants roster. The Giants have a short week in Week 6 when they face the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.
Fantasy football analysis, New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman
The Giants are expecting Saquon Barkley back sooner rather than later, and if Gallman is unable to go in Week 6, it might help make the decision with Barkley. The Giants are not going to rush Barkley if they don’t have to, but they also need as many weapons as they can find against a dominant Patriots defense. Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye out for the status of Gallman and Barkley early this coming week.
