At the end of a scramble in the third quarter last week, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took a brutal shot to the head from a Patriots defensive defensive back, forcing him to leave the game and landing him in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Allen has since cleared the protocol and is expected to play this week against the Tennessee Titans.
Allen doesn’t inspire a lot of believers in his ability outside of Buffalo. There’s a reason for that — his erratic throws and poor decisions limit offensive productivity. So far this season, he’s got three touchdowns to six interceptions, a brutal ratio.
Where he does make a nice contribution, especially for fantasy owners, is in the running game. He had more than 600 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground last season. So far this year, he’s got three rushing scores and 131 yards.
Still, even when he’s 100 percent healthy, Allen is no more than a middle-tier option for fantasy, a streamer for the right matchups, especially in DFS leagues where his salary usually puts him on the lower end of the list.
Fantasy football analysis, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen
The Titans are a tough matchup for Allen and the Bills. Despite a 2-2 record, they’ve got a stifling defense that doesn’t allow quarterbacks to do very much. Skip Allen this week.
