How to handle Mike Williams and Travis Benjamin injuries in Week 5 fantasy football

Two of the Chargers’ top three receivers are questionable this week. Here’s how to handle the situation.

You really wouldn’t expect anything less than a rash of injuries for the Los Angeles Chargers, would you? This week both Mike Williams and Travis Benjamin are listed as questionable for an AFC West showdown against the Broncos. It’s a hip injury for Benjamin, and the same bad back that Williams has been dealing with off and on.

Benjamin has not been a regular part of the Chargers offense in two seasons, partly due to injuries, partly due to there only being so many targets to go around. He missed last week’s game against the Dolphins.

Williams made it clear that he will play this week after missing last week’s game too. Theoretically, he makes sense as a red zone target, but Williams still doesn’t have a single touchdown this season in an offense that just is not as productive as it should be. But maybe this is the week, right?

Fantasy football analysis, Chargers WRs Mike Williams, Travis Benjamin

Benjamin shouldn’t be on your radar at all, even if he was 100 percent healthy. As for Williams, well, you can keep waiting for that big game, or just accept the fact that 50-60 yards is probably the best you’ll actually get. Keenan Allen and running back Austin Ekeler are the runaway 1-2 punch in the Chargers passing game, everyone else is just a bit part.
