How to handle Vernon Davis, Jordan Reed injury news in Week 5 fantasy football

Washington is short-handed at the tight end position, with both Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed out for Week 5. We break down the fantasy football implications.

Washington hosts the New England Patriots in Week 5, and it’s hard to see this game going well. The team announced Colt McCoy will start in place of Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins, and he will be without some weapons. Tight end Jordan Reed remains sidelined with his preseason concussion, and fellow tight end Vernon Davis will also be sidelined with a concussion.

Davis seemed fine through Washington’s Week 4 loss to the New York Giants, but he was a DNP this week with the concussion. His absence means Jeremy Sprinkle will start at tight end. To be perfectly honest, I had to Google that name to make sure it was real.

Things are a mess in Washington, and this isn’t helping the situation. Colt McCoy should have rookie standout receiver Terry McLaurin, although he’s also questionable. Paul Richardson, Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson will be plenty of busy with not much of anything else there to help McCoy.
