If you’re a DFS player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

If you pay up for a big name in your daily fantasy lineup, you definitely cannot afford for that player to put up a dud of a game in your lineup.

So here are three running backs that will likely provide some of the worst value for Week 5. Values from DraftKings.

Alvin Kamara (NO) - $8,600

It might come as a surprise, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have quietly put together a solid rush defense in 2019, ranked 3rd-best overall through the season’s first four weeks. No one is doubting Kamara’s abilities as a rusher or receiver, but the known weakness in the Tampa defense is with the cornerbacks. Add the tough rush defense to a known weak link at cornerback, and Sean Payton will likely have Teddy Bridgewater press the ball down field for the first time in 2019.

Leonard Fournette (JAC) - $6,400

Speaking of tough defenses in the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers are another unit that is tough to run against. Gardner Minshew has performed admirably in the wake of Nick Foles’s injury, but Ron Rivera and the Panthers will likely hone in on stopping Fournette at the Jacksonville rushing attack to force Minshew to be the one to beat them. Fournette will likely have a hard time finding running room against the Panthers in Week 5.

Melvin Gordon (LAC) - $7,000

Unlike the previous two entries, Melvin Gordon’s team actually has a seemingly favorable matchup in Week 5, facing the Denver Broncos and the 4th-worst defense against opposing running backs. The reason to avoid Gordon isn’t the opposition, though, it’s Gordon’s own teammates. Austin Ekeler has performed so well while Gordon was holding out for a new contract, it’s still to be determined how much the Chargers take away from Ekeler just because Gordon has returned. They may just opt to ride the hot hand, which isn’t a good thing for Gordon.
