Washington hosts the New England Patriots in Week 5, and they’re about to roll out their third quarterback of the season. Head coach Jay Gruden announced on Friday that Colt McCoy will get the start ahead of Case Keenum and rookie Dwayne Haskins.

Haskins replaced Keenum last week in an ugly loss to the New York Giants. Keenum opened this week on the injury report with a foot injury. He was a DNP on Wednesday and limited on Thursday.

Fantasy football analysis, QB Colt McCoy

McCoy is not a good quarterback, but it’s not like Washington has much to offer in that department. Haskins is the guy Dan Snyder hopes to be the future, and conflict with Gruden on that decision is going to get the head coach fired sooner rather than later.

For purposes of Week 5, McCoy offers a little bit of stability for the team. He has no fantasy value, but Terry McLaurin (if healthy), Vernon Davis, Chris Thompson, Adrian Peterson, and Paul Richardson all could use a little stability. The Patriots are likely to blow the doors off in this game, so there is a chance for some volume players, particularly for McLaurin, Davis, Thompson, and Richardson. It’s hard to get excited about any of this if you’re a Washington fan, but as a fantasy fan, there is some silver lining.
