A.J. Green ‘ready to play,’ aiming for Week 10 return

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is targeting a return to action in Week 10, and feels like he is ready to play, according to beat writer Paul Dehner. Green has been sidelined since tearing ligaments in his ankle at the start of training camp.

The Bengals benched quarterback Andy Dalton earlier this week, and they’re hoping to have Green back in time for Ryan Finley’s debut. Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate, and Alex Erickson have been a productive pass catching trio, but A.J. Green is a step above. Even with his injuries, the upside he brings would be a big help to a rookie quarterback.

Fantasy football analysis: Bengals WR A.J. Green

Alex Erickson is a popular waiver wire pickup, owned in only 2.9 percent of leagues. He has been huge the past two weeks, and the big question is what Green’s return might mean. It’s wise to stash Erickson if you can, but we’ll be left to play it by ear until we see just what Green means to the game plan. Tyler Boyd would move into the slot, and you have to wonder how many targets that leaves for Erickson and Auden Tate. My guess is Erickson ends up the more productive of the two, but it’s hard to tell how much.
