The 2019 MLB season officially comes down to the final possible day. The Washington Nationals beat the Houston Astros on Tuesday evening to force a deciding Game 7 at Minute Maid Park. Stephen Strasburg was lights out after a shaky first inning and the Nationals offense kept Justin Verlander winless in his World Series career.
First pitch for Game 7 is set for Wednesday at 8:08 p.m. on FOX. Max Scherzer will face off against Zach Greinke. Scherzer was scratched for his start in Game 5 due to a nerve issue in his back that left him unable to raise his arm a few hours before the game. He received a cortisone injection and after a 48-hour wait, was declared good to go for Game 7. Greinke is looking to rebound from a shaky Game 3, in which he contained the Nationals but was pulled after 4 2⁄3 innings.
The Astros are favored — as they have been for all but one game this series — with a money line of -141. The road team has won every game this series, marking the first time that has happened in any of the four major North American sports.
Wagering heading into game has taken an interesting turn. The betting public is siding with the Nationals on money line wagers, with 61 percent of the handle and 75 percent of the bets placed on Washington at +125. On the other hand, people betting on the run line are siding with the Astros. Houston’s run line is -1.5 and 68 percent of the handle and 58 percent of bets placed on that -1.5
