Seahawks upend Rams with late Chris Carson touchdown

The Seahawks improved to 4-1 with a Thursday Night Football win over the Rams. The 30-29 victory was a wild one, and a failed two-point attempt late cost bettors.

The Seattle Seahawks won a wild Thursday Night Football affair over the Los Angeles Rams by a final score of 30-29, thanks to a Greg Zuerlein missing a last second field. The Seahawks took a 30-29 lead when Russell Wilson found a wide open Chris Carson on 4th and goal in the closing minutes. The Rams had a chance in the final 90 seconds, but came up short when Zuerlein missed the 44-yard field goal attempt with 11 seconds left. The Seahawks improve to 4-1 while the Rams drop to 3-2.

The final score was of particular note because of the point spread. The Seahawks had opened as nearly two-point underdogs, but money poured in on them and the line closed at Seahawks -1.5. Seattle trailed 29-24 when they scored their game-winning touchdown, but they failed to convert the two-point attempt. They’ll take the win, but Seahawks backers who got them at 1.5 aren’t going to be too happy.

The first quarter felt like a defensive struggle, with neither offense initially able to make much of a dent. The Rams led 6-0, but then Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett connected for this amazing pass and catch.

It looked like Wilson was going to throw the ball away, but somehow he found Lockett who somehow hauled it in and did the double toe-tap. Tedric Thompson’s interception is worth a look for play of the night, but Lockett’s catch is the play of the game.

Russell Wilson put together another strong fantasy performance thanks to his four touchdown passes and another 33 rushing yards. Chris Carson was the other big performer, with 113 rushing yards and another five yards on a touchdown reception. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf each managed a score, while Will Dissly led the Seahawks with 81 receiving yards.

Jared Goff had another big volume day with 395 passing yards on 49 attempts. He only had one touchdown to go with one interception. Todd Gurley only had 51 rushing yards, but found the end zone twice. The big surprise was Gerald Everett, who had 136 receiving yards on seven receptions. Cooper Kupp was the big target for Goff with nine receptions (on 17 targets) for 117 yards and a touchdown.
