Laying the points at home in the NFC West

The Seahawks and Rams square off in Week 5 Thursday Night Football. I’m a fan of the home team in this one.

The Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams to kick off Week 5 in what should be a fun Thursday Night FootballI contest. The NFC West can get ugly at times, but the Rams and Seahawks are sufficiently talented enough that this should be a fun one.

The Seahawks are a 1.5-point favorite in this one, after opening as underdogs at the DraftKings Sportsbook. The public is backing the Rams, but I’m going to go in the other direction. I don’t want to undervalue the Rams after an atrocious Week 4 loss to Tampa Bay, but this feels like a game where the Seahawks win a tight one. Jadeveon Clowney can get this defense going, and the Rams defense has struggled enough this season that Russell Wilson and Chris Carson should be able to do some things.

My best bet of the game is the under on the point total. It’s set at 49, which is tied for the second highest of Week 5. I think this is one where people are undervaluing the defenses in light of the Rams struggles against Tampa Bay. I think we do see a bit of a bounce-back, and the Seahawks get a win in the 24-17 range.
