What to do with Jared Goff in Week 5 fantasy football

Jared Goff had big volume in Week 4, but it was an ugly performance. It’s hard to justify starting him in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks. We break down your fantasy football options.

The Los Angeles Rams travel to face the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football in Week 5, and it could be a dicey matchup for quarterback Jared Goff. He’s coming off a Week 4 performance that saw him throw for 517 yards and two touchdowns, but it took 68 passing attempts to do it, and he threw three interceptions.

The Rams face a Seahawks defense that is in the middle of the pack when it comes to containing opposing passing games. The defense is not the same as the Legion of Boom days, but Jadeveon Clowney has brought an improved presence in the pass rush — making life a little more miserable for quarterbacks.

Fantasy football analysis, Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff

Fantasy owners benefited from the volume play with Goff in Week 4. He had his highest fantasy football point total of the 2019 season, but from a purely football perspective, it was pretty atrocious. And it is not exactly sustainable for fantasy owners.

This weekend he faces a Seahawks defense that ranks 15th for fewest fantasy points allowed against opposing quarterbacks. A short week and a divisional matchup can make for some craziness, so it’s hard to suggest you start Goff. Matthew Stafford is on a bye for some owners, but there are likely better options to consider.
