The Seattle Seahawks will get running back Rashaad Penny off the injury report for Week 5, but his opportunity behind Chris Carson is uncertain. Penny missed the past two weeks with a hamstring injury, but was able to work his way back this week for Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams. Penny was a DNP on Monday’s simulated report, then limited on Tuesday, and a full participant on Wednesday. He has no injury designation for Thursday.
Penny was quiet in Seattle’s opener, with 18 rushes on six carries. He broke out in Week 2 with 62 yards and a touchdown on ten carries, but then injured his hamstring in Friday practice for Week 3.
Fantasy football analysis, Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny
Penny’s return means C.J. Prosise will be at best a special teams option in Week 5, with Penny getting back his complementary role. Carson broke out in Week 4, rushing for 104 yards and catching four receptions for 41 yards in Seattle’s 27-10 win over Arizona.
The Seahawks face a step up in competition with the Rams, although LA is coming off an atrocious defensive effort against Tampa Bay. They’ve given up the eighth most fantasy points to running backs, but that mostly bodes well for Carson. Penny will get some work, but he does not have any DFS or traditional fantasy football value at this point.
