The 2019 NFL regular season passes through the halfway point in Week 9. 18 teams have played eight games on their schedule, and the remaining 14 will get to the halfway point of their slate this weekend. Meanwhile, fantasy football leagues are well into the back half of their schedule with five weeks remaining in the regular season for most leagues.
Week 9 brings four byes with some big names sidelined. The Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints are on bye this weekend. That means no Julio Jones or Michael Thomas, no Todd Gurley, Alvin Kamara (getting healthy) or Devonta Freeman, and no Austin Hooper. A big name sitting out is Drew Brees who returned in Week 8 from his torn thumb ligament and put up monster numbers. He’ll have to wait a week to build on his momentum.
The injury report is always busy, but not quite as many big names will be out this week. Adam Thielen is expected to return for Minnesota, while Arizona will be without Chase Edmonds and David Johnson — thus the Kenyan Drake trade. Detroit lost Kerryon Johnson to IR prior to last week, but we still don’t know for sure what their plan is with their committee of running backs.
The week will feature plenty more news, injury and otherwise, and we’ll be tracking it all here. Feel free to bookmark this story stream and return for the latest news and analysis!
