Kenyan Drake doesn’t travel with Dolphins for Week 8, suggests trade approaching

Mark Walton ... come on down! Fantasy football owners of Kenyan Drake will need to take a wait-and-see approach.

It would appear the Miami Dolphins are close to trading away another asset for future draft picks. Running back Kenyan Drake did not travel with the team for Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe. Drake is not on the injury report and not facing known discipline, so this suggests a trade could be on the verge of happening.

Mark Walton has moved into a more prominent role in recent weeks, and the Dolphins have shown a willingness to trade any and all assets. Drake is not part of the long-term plan, and Miami has been reportedly shopping him for a couple weeks now.

If you were able to add Mark Walton, he’s going to be a must start on Monday Night Football, and could develop into a fringe RB2 option in Miami thanks to the volume of a starter. Dolphins players in general are not great fantasy football options, but a starting running back is valuable regardless of team.

Drake’s status is still TBD considering we don’t know what situation he will join. The Detroit Lions make a lot of sense given the loss of Kerryon Johnson, but they also might prefer waiting to see what Ty Johnson and JD McKissic show in Week 8. For now, we have to wait and see before assessing Drake the rest of the season.
