Despite missing a month of the season, Tevin Coleman has been the San Francisco 49ers’ go-to running back since returning to action in Week 5.
Coleman had a huge edge in touches last week against Washington. He carried the ball a total of 20 times for just 62 yards on a terrible field. Matt Breida, who turned in some solid performances while Coleman was out earlier this year, had just eight carries for 35 yards in that same outing. Breida did leave that game with a concussion, which helped Coleman get such a big edge in touches.
This week, the 49ers are at home against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers did a nice job limiting the Bucs running game last week, but overall this season, their defense has been middle of the road against opposing ground games.
That’s good news for Coleman.
Fantasy football analysis, San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida
The 49ers don’t use the classic one-back system preferred by fantasy owners for years now. However, Coleman is at least clearly at the top of the heap for their committee approach, so that at least gives you some assurance in planning.
Sit/start recommendation
Start Coleman, and sit Breida.
