It seemed like a pretty exciting move when the Houston Texans acquired running back Duke Johnson from the Cleveland Browns prior to the start of this season. However, he has mostly been a distant second option behind Carlos Hyde during games this year.
Johnson ran for 34 yards last week against the Colts, matching his rushing total from the week before that. Even though he consistently gets about 10 touches a game, Johnson has only found the end zone once this season with the Texans.
It’s a shame too. Johnson could offer so much more offensively than what Bill O’Brien is letting him do. Hyde hasn’t been bad, by any means, in the starting role, but Johnson has definitely been the more dynamic playmaker of the two.
Fantasy football analysis, Houston Texans RB Duke Johnson
It’s hard to recommend Johnson given the team being so intent on limiting his workload. You just can’t risk taking up a roster spot in your lineup, regardless of the fantasy format, for a guy who seems to have flatlined at around 50-60 yards from scrimmage each week.
Hyde is a decent play, and figures to get plenty of work against the Raiders.
