The New York Giants will not have wide receiver Sterling Shepard in the lineup this week when they travel to Detroit for a game against the Lions.
Shepard suffered the concussion earlier this season, after Week 5. Unfortunately, this is his second one of the season already. He has been practice some, in a limited capacity, recently, but the team still does not have a good indication about when he might be able to clear the league’s concussion protocol.
As far as fantasy goes, Shepard was an inconsistent option, something that should not be all that surprising for a struggling team with a rookie quarterback. That’s hardly a recipe for fantasy gold for role player type receivers.
Fantasy football analysis, New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard
Without Shepard, Darius Slayton and Golden Tate will carry the bulk of the work at wide receiver. Although Slayton has a slight edge in overall yardage produced so far this season, Tate consistently gets looks from his quarterback. Tight end Evan Engram leads the team in receiving. They face a Lions defense that has been shaky, and is coming off an ugly overall effort against the Minnesota Vikings. Tate is a must start, while Slayton is a solid option as well.
