Officially, Matt Ryan’s status for this week’s game was questionable. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback, who hasn’t missed a start since 2009, suffered a sprained ankle last week against the Rams. He missed practice earlier this week, but returned in a limited role on Friday, usually a prerequisite for being able to play. However, on Saturday, the Falcons ruled him out.
Head coach Dan Quinn said they likely wouldn’t make a decision until Saturday, which they did, ruling him out.
The Falcons’ awfulness aside, Ryan had been putting up some decent fantasy performances as the season went on. After starting the year matching touchdown passes with picks, he’s had three of four games with at least three scores before last week.
Fantasy football analysis, Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan
Now that Ryan will not play, the Falcons offense will be handed over to veteran Matt Schaub to start. They spent the week preparing him to make the start, so he has at least had some reps ahead of this week’s game against the Seahawks.
The Falcons are likely to be playing from behind, so the question is whether or not he can produce quality fantasy numbers.
