Worst wide receiver DFS plays in Week 8

OBJ, it’s just not your day against Stephon Gilmore and the smothering Patriots defense

Entering Week 8 of the season, it is more imperative than ever to avoid putting anyone in your lineup that posts a lemon. There are some wide receivers this week that look like great value plays, so whiffing on a higher-priced receiver is a real no-no. Here are the wide receivers to avoid in DFS this week:

Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots ($6,500)

If Beckham is saying he wishes he could have been a Patriot before the game, wait until he spends his day with Stephon Gilmore on Sunday. He’ll wish he were on any other team than the Browns, because Gilmore is the best of the best and has given no quarter in 2019. No one has scored a touchdown against Gilmore this season and Bill Belichick will certainly make taking Beckham out of the equation the top priority.

T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos ($6,100)

Normally we salivate at the prospect of Hilton playing at home, especially with Jacoby Brissett on fire lately. But for all the problems the Broncos are having on offense, we still respect the ability of Chris Harris and expect that while he may not stop Hilton altogether, he will likely prevent the Colts receiver from having his typical big game at home.

Alshon Jeffery, Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills ($5,200)

The Bills are about as stingy a team defense against the pass as there is in the league. All the receivers on the Eagles are in for a long day on Sunday in upstate New York, including tight end Zack Ertz. Buffalo, in particular, does not allow big plays to deep threats, and that should reduce Jeffery to an underneath role, limiting his yards and scoring potential. He might catch a few balls, but probably won’t produce nearly enough to pay off his salary.
