Worst quarterback DFS plays for Week 8

A goat, a rookie, and a teddy walk into a bar... We break down the worst QB options in Week 8 DFS.

If you’re a DFS player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

If you pay up for a big name in your daily fantasy lineup, you definitely cannot afford for that player to put up a dud of a game in your lineup.

So here are three quarterbacks that will likely provide some of the worst value for Week 8. Values from DraftKings.

Tom Brady (NE) - $6,600

Yes, Brady is still the undisputed GOAT, and yes, the New England Patriots just added Mohamed Sanu, but Tom Brady is still likely a quarterback you will want to avoid in your daily lineups this week. Josh Gordon was just placed on injured reserve, and they will likely need to give Sanu a week to get acclimated to the New England offense before Sanu is up to full speed. Against a struggling Cleveland Browns team, look for New England to rely on its defense and running game to extend their undefeated season.

Kyler Murray (ARI) - $6,200

Quarterbacks who can extend plays with their legs have a high floor in daily fantasy, but I’m not expecting big numbers from Kyler Murray this week. I know confidence is high in the Arizona Cardinals fanbase on the backs of a three-game winning streak, but it’s important to look behind the numbers. The combined record of last three Arizona opponents during their 3-game winning streak? 6-18 (.250). On the other hand, the combined record of Arizona’s opponents in the 3-game losing streak? 14-6 (.700). Add in the fact that the New Orleans is a difficult team to find success rushing the ball and it being Murray’s first trip to play in such a hostile environment, and it could be a long day for the rookie.

Teddy Bridgewater (NO) - $5,900

Sticking with the Saints and Cardinals game, Teddy Bridgewater makes the do-not-start list this week because...well...I don’t think he is going to start his own game this week. Despite Sean Payton’s waffling, I fully expect Drew Brees to be the starting quarterback for the New Orleans offense on Sunday. Anything else coming out of Sean Payton’s mouth before opening kickoff is likely just an attempt to make the Arizona defense have to prepare for two different quarterbacks.
