The Kansas City Chiefs made an expected announcement Friday afternoon, with head coach Andy Reid declaring quarterback Patrick Mahomes out for their Week 8 matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Mahomes dislocated his knee cap eight days ago, but optimism abounds about his return. He was able to throw the ball and do some individual drills this week, but he is not ready to get into a game.
Matt Moore will start in his place. After replacing Mahomes last week, he completed 10 of 19 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy football analysis, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, Matt Moore
Mahomes likely will get more practice work in Week 9, but fantasy owners should not expect him back for the Chiefs home game against the Minnesota Vikings. Right now, Week 10 is a possibility, while Week 11 seems like the back end of this timeline.
Moore is a good add for two-QB leagues, but outside of 16-team leagues, Moore is not a great add for the time being. If you have particularly large rosters, feel free to add him, but there are better option considering the strong play of the Packers defense.
