We might finally get a chance to see New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon in action this weekend. The Jets travel to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8, and Herndon is getting in practice for the first time since injuring his hamstring at the tail end of his four-game suspension. Herndon was listed as limited on Wednesday and Thursday after DNPs all last week.

Ryan Griffin has served as the Jets tight end through the first seven weeks of the season. In six games, he has nine catches for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy football analysis, Jets TE Chris Herndon

The tight end position is perpetually difficult to find depth in, and so plenty of fantasy football owners end up shuffling and streaming through what they can. After the top handful, it becomes a crapshoot as to who will break out. Herndon is the kind of guy people will roll the dice on in hopes he can build on a strong rookie season in which he had 39 catches for 502 yards and four touchdowns.

The Jaguars have been fairly solid against tight ends, giving up the 11th fewest points to the position. If Herndon is active this weekend, he’s not worth starting quite yet unless you’re truly desperate. We want to see what exactly his involvement will be in the early going.
