What to do with Case Keenum in Week 8 fantasy football

On a short week after being shut out at home, there’s not much to like about Case Keenum and Washington’s offense on Thursday night. We break down your fantasy football options.

Don’t do anything with Case Keenum this week. If you didn’t know what to do with Case Keenum this week, well, why are you playing fantasy football, really?

Okay, trolling aside, Keenum isn’t in a great spot on short rest having to travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Washington hasn’t scored more than 20 points in five straight weeks. The weather was bad at home last week vs. the 49ers, but would that have made much of a difference? Probably not. Washington is only ahead of the Jets in terms of passing yards per game and among QBs with at least six games, Keenum is 20th in QBR at 44.8.

Fantasy Football Analysis, Washington QB Case Keenum

The only real thing going for Keenum is the possible game script and the fact the game is indoors. The Vikings should undoubtedly destroy Washington, so if the game gets out of hand fast — and if RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) is out or limited — then Keenum may have to throw the ball upwards of 40 times. But Minnesota only allows 237.9 passing yards per game and have done a decent job getting to the QB with 19 sacks on the season.

Despite making some QBs look semi-competent, the Vikings do a great job limiting points, only allowing 17.6 per game this season. This is mostly thanks to their schedule, but I mean, it’s Washington we’re talking about here. Keenum isn’t imposing any fear. Really the only way you’re considering Keenum is if you’re in a super-deep 16-team league and your starter got hurt (Mahomes, Cam, Brees, Big Ben). There is no reason to roll Keenum out there on Thursday and if you think there is, hit me up on Twitter (@SlateBreakerDFS) and I’ll talk you out of it.
