Washington travels to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8 on Thursday Night Football, and they’ll be shorthanded once again on offense. Running back Chris Thompson and tight end Vernon Davis have both been ruled out, while Adrian Peterson is questionable with an ankle injury.
Peterson suffered an ankle injury against the 49ers in Week 7, and described it as a mix of high and low sprains. He told media he expects to play, but he looks like a game time decision. He sat out Monday and Tuesday and got in a limited session on Wednesday. Considering it’s a short week, the DNPs are not surprising and it would not be shocking to see him play on Thursday.
Thompson is dealing with a turf toe injury, while Davis is still in the concussion protocol. Davis has been out since Week 4 with the concussion and got in three more limited practices this week. Thompson injured the toe in Week 6 and sat out all three practices this week.
Fantasy football analysis, Thursday Night Football
AP will be game-time decision, but at least we’ll have an answer early in the fantasy schedule. The bigger issue for him is facing a Vikings defense that has given up the fifth fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. He will get volume given Thompson’s injury, but if he’s active, you’re probably better off sitting him. Wendell Smallwood will get some work as well, but the Washington ground game is unlikely to be all too productive against Minnesota on Thursday.
