Nick Foles returning to practice in Week 8

Jaguars QB Nick Foles can return to game action in Week 11, but is back at practice. We break down the fantasy football implications for Gardner Minshew.

The Jacksonville Jaguars shelled out big money for quarterback Nick Foles this offseason, but things have not gone quite as planned. He broke his collarbone in Week 1 and was placed injured reserve. Since then, rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew has stepped up in his place and performed about as well as one could expect.

The Jaguars could not face a big question in a few weeks. Foles is returning to practice on Wednesday in Week 8, and is eligible to come off injured reserve in Week 11. In six starts and seven appearances for Jacksonville, Minshew has completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 1,697 yards and has ten touchdowns and two interceptions. The Jaguars are 3-3 in his starts and are only a game and a half out of first place.

Plenty couple happen over the next three weeks, but it seems unlikely Foles will replace Minshew in the starting lineup. The latter has had some ups and downs, but has developed into a solid option. He’s not a regular fantasy start, but he’s a useful spot start. D.J. Chark has emerged over the first seven weeks, and we’re seeing Dede Westbrook starting to come around. With Leonard Fournette playing well, Foles does not seem to be an upgrade over Minshew.
