Top 50 running backs in Week 8 standard leagues [UPDATE]

Week 7 was attack of the backup running backs. We break down what to make of it all in our Week 8 ranking of the top 50 running backs in standard leagues.

10/26 rankings update

Rankings have been updated following the release of Friday injury reports. The Thursday night players have been removed. David Johnson and Alvin Kamara are game-time decisions and are not included in the rankings. Josh Jacobs should suit up so he has been moved up.

First of all, if you started David Johnson in Week 7 fantasy football, I am so sorry. Johnson was a game-time decision and was eventually activated for the game. However, It was Chase Edmonds who capitalized en route to a three-touchdown game. The revenge of the backups continued with Latavius Murray having a tremendous day against the Chicago Bears.

We can expect David Johnson to once again to be active, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Mr. Edmonds. Detroit Lions running back, Kerryon Johnson, is the latest starting running back to go down. His move to the injured reserve elevated Ty Johnson up the rankings. Adrian Peterson may also be looking at a few weeks off with a high ankle sprain. We’ll also be without Ezekiel Elliot and Mark Ingram who are on bye.

James Conner returns from his bye week with a wonderful matchup against the Miami Dolphins. When he isn’t frustrating fantasy players, Devonta Freeman enjoys punching dudes in the face and getting ejected. If he isn’t suspended he’ll also be up for more work with Ito Smith suffering a concussion.
