Public backing Astros for Game 1 of the World Series

The Astros are big favorites in the 2019 World Series. We break down what the odds look like and where the public is betting for Game 1.

The Houston Astros and Washington Nationals kick off the World Series Tuesday evening in Houston with Gerrit Cole facing Max Scherzer. The Astros are the biggest World Series favorite in 12 years, and are -195 favorites in Game 1 as of game day morning at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The public is backing the Astros in Game 1, with 74 percent of the handle on them. It’s interesting to note that only 52 percent of tickets bet are on the Astros. That suggests some sizable money per bet has been dropped on the Astros even as a host of people are willing to put down at least a little bit of money on Scherzer and the Nationals Tuesday evening.

The run line (1.5) for Tuesday’s game has the Nationals favored at -132, while the Astros are +114. Total runs sits at 6.5, with the over a slight favorite at -125 to +104. You can parlay the the total runs with both the money line and run line. They break down as follows:
