Jakobi Meyers building some fantasy waiver value

The Patriots have a plethora of wide receivers. Is Jakobi Meyers the kind of weapon who can offer fantasy football value? We break it down for Week 8 waiver wire decisions.

Editor’s update: Welp, his value just took a hit as the Patriots just traded for Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. Meyers is still intriguing as a guy off the bench, but there’s a few less targets available with Sanu coming over.

The New England Patriots rolled over the New York Jets in Week 7, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers had a second straight solid game. Meyers caught five passes for 47 yards a week after he caught four passes for 54 yards.

Meyers’ Week 6 performance came with Phillip Dorsett sidelined. Dorsett returned this week and had three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. This time around, Josh Gordon was sidelined with his own injury, ruled out after the team’s final practice.

Fantasy football analysis, Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers

Meyers is picking up some chemistry with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and is an intriguing option to consider with fantasy football waiver wire priority. He’s currently owned in 3.3 percent of leagues, but the question is how much value he holds once the Patriots receivers are healthy. I could see him being a solid weapon for Brady who is unlikely to hold much fantasy value later this season outside of deeper PPR leagues. That being said, he is worth a stash for now if you’ve got the roster space.
