Arizona Cardinals troll fantasy football fans, Matthew Berry loses it

The Arizona Cardinals stunned fantasy football owners in Week 7 when they started running back David Johnson against the New York Giants, but quickly sat him for Chase Edmonds. Johnson played three snaps and had the first carry of the game, and then Edmonds played 61 snaps (94 percent) who had 27 rushes and two catches on four targets.

Edmonds finished the day with 150 total yards and three rushing touchdowns en route to a 27-21 Cardinals win. Fantasy football owners were aghast at the decision-making, but the Cardinals organization was not at all concerned. As Edmonds was rolling up his monster day, the Cardinals Twitter account offered this bit of trolling.

Naturally that pissed off some people and resulted in a host of fantasy football owners unloading on the Cardinals Twitter account. After the game, which saw Arizona win their third straight to improve to 3-3-1 and the team’s Twitter account offered a shout out to fantasy owners.

It was some trolling and naturally there were plenty of reactions. ESPN’s Matthew Berry was one of those people who was not remotely pleased with this. And when I say not remotely pleased, he had quite the meltdown on his podcast with Field Yates. It starts slow, but picks up steam in a hurry.

I get why fantasy owners would be annoyed by the play-calling, and nobody likes to be trolled over this kind of thing. We told people DJ was the no doubt play. Berry noted 97 percent of DJ owners were starting him (I wonder what was up with the three percent!). He was likely plenty popular on DraftKings in DFS and cost a lot of folks in a big way.

But man, that is quite the meltdown. You’d think someone stole Matthew’s binky or something. Displeasure is understandable, but yeeeeeesh.
