The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to be without wide receiver A.J. Green for a couple more weeks, but they won’t give up that kind of information just yet. Head coach Zac Taylor told local media on Monday that he won’t rule Green out for Sunday’s game against the Rams just quite yet, according to team reporter Geoff Hobson.
Taylor did tell the media that Green won’t play until he is able to go full in practice. Green got in a couple limited sessions in Week 6, but then sat out all three practices in Week 7.
Fantasy football analysis, Bengals WR A.J. Green
I’d be stunned if Green was playing in Week 8, so don’t hold your breath on that one. In his absence, Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate will continue to start, and Alex Erickson will get work as the third receiver.
Erickson led the team in receiving this past week, breaking out with eight receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown. He’s not going to keep this up week in and week out, but he’s an intriguing option if you’re struggling with injuries or bye issues. The Bengals face a tough Rams defense that just added Jalen Ramsey to the mix. Erickson could end up being the one guy who finds some openings against what could be developing into a stout Rams pass defense.
