The Cincinnati Bengals will be without wide receiver A.J. Green for at least two more games. Green was ruled out Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he will also miss Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Green returned to practice last week, but sat out this week’s practices. Schefter is reporting Green is “progressing nicely” but, “the Bengals want to ensure a compete recovery before he returns -- with the organization looking out for the player’s best interest beyond any single game.”
The Bengals have said they are not trading Green, and this absence would carry through the trade deadline. Teams can make trades until Tuesday, October 29th, which is the day after Week 8 closes. The Bengals have a bye in Week 9, so the earliest we could see Green back in a Bengals uniform is Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Fantasy football analysis, Bengals WR A.J. Green
Fantasy owners now know they can ignore Green for at least another week and wait until after the bye. It seems more and more unlikely the team won’t trade Green, but given he is in his contract year, it still could be an option.
In the meantime, Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate will remain the team’s starters, with Alex Erickson serving as the third receiver. John Ross is on injured reserve with a clavicle injury, and the earliest he can return is early December.
