Despite only getting limited work in practice all week, wide receiver Julio Jones was not on the week’s final injury report. He will be ready to roll when the Atlanta Falcons host the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
Consistently one of the best receivers in the NFL and fantasy football alike, Jones is right up there again this year. His 467 receiving yards and four touchdowns are both among the 10 best totals in the league among his position group. There’s a reason he’s one of those guys who just stays in your fantasy lineup, unless he’s hurt, week in and week out.
The question this week, however, has to do with the Rams’ recent acquisition of shutdown cornerback Jalen Ramsey. He is expected to play this week, and despite a limited amount of time to familiarize himself with the team’s defense, how much does he really need to do to man up on Jones? The talking heads like to think this game is rocket science, when sometimes it’s really just high school algebra.
That said, Ramsey vs. Jones means Calvin Ridley should be on your radar this week, especially in DK leagues where his salary is $5,300 (compared to Jones’ $8,000).
Fantasy football analysis, Atlanta Falcons WRs Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley
In traditional fantasy, just leave Jones in your lineup because he’s always got the potential to have a big game, no matter who’s he’s playing against. Ridley is looking like a good start in any format. The Rams are ailing in the secondary, and if most of Ramsey’s attention is focused on Jones, Ridley is poised for a big day.
