David Johnson injury status update, game day
Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson is expected to be good to go for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. He did not practice Wednesday and was limited Thursday and Friday before getting a questionable tag on the final injury report. Chase Edmonds will see some work, but Johnson is the go-to guy out of the backfield and will get plenty of opportunities against a bad Giants defense.
If you had been counting on David Johnson for your fantasy lineup this week, or if you were thinking about spending big on his $7,800 salary in DK leagues, you need to know that the Arizona Cardinals running back is a game-time decision for Sunday’s game.
This time Johnson is dealing with an ankle injury. He was able to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday’s session. What is notable here is that Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said that if the game had been Friday, Johnson would not have played. So keep your eye on the news and hold off on making any set-in-stone decisions before Sunday.
Johnson’s status was up in the air late last week too, when he was dealing with a back injury. He did end up playing against the Falcons, and while he didn’t post big yardage numbers, he did manage to score a receiving and a rushing touchdown, making for a very productive day in fantasy.
Fantasy football analysis, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson
Johnson is the third most expensive running back this week in DK leagues, which makes sense given that he could really clean up against the Giants. But game-time decisions are anathema to fantasy.
If he can’t go, Chase Edmonds would be the go-to guy for the Cardinals in his place, and given the opponent, he would definitely be worth an addition to your lineup, even if it’s just this week.
