Devin Singletary game-day status update

The Bills announced their inactives, and as expected, running back Devin Singletary is ACTIVE as he has worked his way back from a hamstring injury. Frank Gore is likely to remain the lead back, but Singletary will be plenty busy. Long-term he likely will eventually supplant Gore. For Week 7, both running backs are solid fantasy football starts against the tanking Dolphins.

I don’t want to overstate the successes Frank Gore has managed in the past three weeks with Devin Singletary sidelined with a hamstring injury, but the veteran certainly has been solid. Gore’s had at least 16 touches in all three matchups and even gained 100 yards against the vaunted Patriots defense. I’m hesitant to say Gore can surprise anymore at this advanced stage of his career, yet I can safely state that Bills fans and owners have been quite content with his output. Its now a matter of whether he can sustain that production with Singletary back in the mix.

Here’s where its important to note Buffalo’s opponent in Week 7. Its Miami. The Dolphins are essentially Santa Claus when it comes to their generosity towards opponent running backs. Miami has surrendered the second-most adjusted line yards per carry of any team in football this season (5.23). Miami is conceding 149.8 rushing yards per game from opposing backfields - the highest mark in the league. Miami is also allowing 8.8 yards per target to RBs in the passing attack, which, of course, is the worst figure of any squad in the AFC. They’re just bad. Its from a volume perspective and an efficiency perspective. I mean, when your average scoring margin is -27.6 points, its really not all that shocking that teams playing you attempt an NFL-high 36.2 rushes per contest.

Fantasy Football Analysis, Buffalo Bills RBs Frank Gore and Devin Singletary

Look, Fantasy Football obviously isn’t this easy, but Gore and Adrian Peterson share very similar archetypes in 2019. Both are past their prime and both have values inherently tied to game flow. The Dolphins gave up 118 yards to Peterson last week on 23 carries, because that’s what they do. Still, while Gore’s a lock in season-long, his viability is a little more shaky in DFS without much of a pass-catching element. As for Singletary, in a bye-heavy week, his explosiveness and the matchup are enough to make him a FLEX consideration.
