What to do with Dawson Knox in Week 7 fantasy football

Is this the week Dawson Knox returns to our hearts? We look at whether you should play or bench the Bills TE in a great matchup vs. the Dolphins.

There’s a lot to like about Dawson Knox this week and it isn’t all about his incredible name. First, let’s look at what Knox has done so far in his rookie season. Knox has posted 10 receptions on 18 targets for 156 yards and a score in five games, so that’s roughly 15.6 yards per reception, which is impressive for a rookie. Everyone always preaches how rookie TEs never really produce, but Knox has shown flashes of success. He’s even gotten a look in the run game with a nine-year carry! Anyway, things are shaping up nicely for Knox to potentially have a breakout in Week 7.

Fantasy Football Analysis, Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox

So the Bills and Knox are coming off a bye week and get the Miami Dolphins at home. Right now the spread is -17 in favor of Buffalo, does anybody want to go look and see when the last time the Bills were favored by this much in a game? No way it was in the past two decades. We’ve got John Brown (groin) popping up on the injury report and should expect plenty of running with Devin Singletary expected back and Frank Gore in a revenge spot vs. one of his many former teams. But I still think this lines up well for Knox so long as he gets around 4-5 targets. Considering most of his receptions go for decent yardage, he won’t need many to return fantasy football value against Miami, which has allowed the most points per game (36) this season.

Back in Week 1, we saw what Mark Andrews was able to do to the Dolphins defense, so I think Knox’s ceiling is somewhat in that realm, 8-108-1 ... maybe not that many receptions, but I think 5-80-1 is a decent ceiling. He’ll have two-TD upside given the matchup and would be in line for a bigger role if John Brown were to sit or be limited at all. When a team is playing the Dolphins, it’s usually an “all hands on deck” type of fantasy situation.
