Top 25 TE standard options for Week 5 fantasy football

We break down the tight ends to consider as Week 5 is upon us.

Author’s updated 10/5 3:15pm p.m.: Following the release of Friday’s practice reports we have updated our rankings. Vernon Davis has been ruled out with a concussion. With Jordan Reed also sidelined that leaves Jeremy Sprinkle with the starting role in Washington. Vance McDonald heads into the weekend listed as questionable and remains a risky start.

Were you able to find the right tight end in daily fantasy in Week 4? If you kept riding the Austin Hooper bus you were richly rewarded with a 9 reception 130 yard game. Playing the hot hand also worked out if you went with Will Dissly and Mark Andrews who have both started the season with fantastic performances. Travis Kelce didn’t find the end zone, but he did go for 85 yards receiving in a game where Patrick Mahomes didn’t throw a touchdown.

Unfortunately, early season all-star T.J Hockenson took a bad fall and his availability for Week 5 is very much in question. Only the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions are on a bye this week so the tight end market is left relatively unchanged.

It’s been a slow start of the season for Jared Cook, but a matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be just what he needs to get things going. The Bucs are getting beat up by tight ends and Cook did see 6 targets last week against the Dallas Cowboys. Conversely, Mark Andrews (aka “Mandrews”) and Zach Ertz both have fairly tough opponents this week so maybe seek other options in Week 5.

We’ve got all the tight ends to consider as you head into Week 5 of your fantasy football leagues.
