What to do with Chiefs D/ST in Week 7 fantasy football

Sure, it’s Joe Flacco and the Broncos’ offense ... but does that mean Kansas City’s D/ST is worth risking on Thursday night? We break down your fantasy football options.

When approaching the idea of using the Chiefs D/ST teams it sort of a double-edged sword. One side can be razor sharp against poor offenses and force turnovers, leading to big fantasy football outputs. The other side is dull and gives up 30+ points. There’s not much in-between here, but the matchup gives us some hope. That is, in the form of Joe Flacco.

But before I go on bashing Flacco, let’s look at the past couple weeks for Kansas City. The Chiefs have had basically zero pass rush in each of their losses the past two weeks. This is particularly concerning when you factor in they played the Texans’ awful offensive line last Sunday. Even three turnovers against Houston didn’t lead to anything in terms of fantasy, with the Chiefs allowing 31 points and finishing with 5 FPTS. Essentially, KC’s defense needs to score a TD to return value.

Fantasy Football Analysis, Kansas City Chiefs D/ST

Score a TD to return value, you say? Well, hello Mr. Flacco! The Broncos’ offense ranks 21st in total yards and 26th in points per game at 17.7. Flacco has thrown five interceptions so far this season and has thrown 10 Pick 6’s in his career. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Chiefs can limit the Broncos’ point total and potentially get a TD. Are the odds great enough that I’m going to recommend you roll out their D/ST on Thursday night? Well, do you have any other options? If so, I’d say wait it out and go that way. Chance are if you’re in a 10-team league, the waiver wire will have decent streamers. If you’re in a deeper league, you could do worse than the Chiefs D/ST. Horrible defense vs. inept offense is always fun, right? I think on a short week, on the road, it’s hard to put faith in the Chiefs’ D/ST to get it done. Plus, KC may be down two CBs in Kendall Fuller and Bashaud Breeland.
