Betting on undervalued Chiefs in Week 7 TNF

The Chiefs are coming off two straight losses, but that might provide some value heading into Thursday Night Football. Here’s my pick against the spread.

The Kansas City Chiefs face the Denver Broncos to open Week 7 and there is a lot more on the line than many likely anticipated at the beginning of the season. The Broncos could cut the Chiefs AFC West lead to one game with a Thursday Night Football upset.

The Chiefs have lost two straight home games to Indianapolis and Houston to drop to 4-2. The Broncos have won two in a row on the road against the Chargers and at home against the Titans to improve to 4-2. There is some question about degree of difficulty, but the Broncos are building up some steam.

That makes the point spread a little more interesting for this one. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Chiefs installed as a three-point road favorite. Status as a road favorite is notable, but the three points still seems a little low. The Broncos defense has shown some signs of life, but it has come against some fairly weak opponents. The Titans offense is a train wreck and the Chargers performance against Pittsburgh a week after their game against Denver shows a team that is struggling to get on track.

I’m prepared to lay the points with the Chiefs. Sammy Watkins is a question mark for the game, but even without him I like the possibilities. Patrick Mahomes is not quite looking 100 percent, but their offense still jumped out to a big early lead. If they do that in Denver, the Broncos don’t have the firepower to come back like we saw with Houston.

The point total for the game is 48.5 points. I’m actually inclined to lean under on this one, as I don’t think the Broncos offense will be able to do nearly enough against the Chiefs. I could use something like 27-13 as a final score.
