What to do with Broncos D/ST in Week 7 fantasy football

The surging Broncos defense faces a tough Chiefs offense in Week 7. We break down whether they’re worth a fantasy football start on Thursday Night Football.

The Denver Broncos will be counting on their defense to step up in a big way when they host the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football to open Week 7. The Chiefs are fourth in the NFL in points scored, No. 1 in total offensive efficiency, and opposing team defenses are scoring the fewest fantasy points against them this year.

Even when he struggles, Patrick Mahomes is still surpassing 300 yards passing. The touchdown totals are down this year, but he’s moving the ball. And now he has Tyreek Hill back, and could potentially have Sammy Watkins as well.

Fantasy football analysis, Broncos D/ST

The Broncos defense currently ranks 20th in fantasy points per game, but they’re coming off their best performance of the season, and three straight weeks of improved performance. Last week they shut out the Tennessee Titans, sacked their quarterbacks seven times, and hauled in three interceptions. The week before, they managed two interceptions and a blocked kick while giving up 13 points. The week before that they finally got on the board with five sacks.

The big difference the past three weeks has been sacks and interceptions. The team had none of either the first three weeks, but like an olive jar, once they got the first one out, the rest came pouring out.

That being said, it’s hard to justify the Broncos this week. A short week against the Chiefs offers some hope for the Broncos, but there are plenty of better options this weekend.
