Will Dissly to undergo Achilles surgery, will be done for 2019 season

Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly will see his breakout 2019 season come to a close after six games. Dissly suffered an Achilles injury in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and will undergo season-ending surgery on Thursday, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport.

This is the second straight season Dissly’s season ended due to injury. He suffered a torn patellar tendon in Week 4 of the 2018 season. He had eight receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns at that point. This year, his season ends with 23 receptions for 262 yards and four touchdowns. He had become a go-to option for quarterback Russell Wilson, leading the team in touchdowns, second in receptions, and third in yards.

The only upside to the timing of the injury is that it should give Dissly time to be ready for the start of next season. A second straight season ended by lower leg injury raises red flags for his fantasy football draft stock. His performance through six games should be sufficient to get him drafted next year if his recovery has no hiccups, but there is reason to give pause.

In the meantime, Luke Willson takes over as the Seahawks starting tight end. For the time being, he has no fantasy football value.
