St. Louis XFL team drafts Seahawks fan favorite Christine Michael

Every NFL fan base has a player they irrationally love. Everybody loves the great players, but it’s those mediocre to average players that really bring out the irrational exuberance.

For Seattle Seahawks fans, running back Christine Michael is that guy. The Seahawks spent a 2013 second round pick on Michael. Injuries slowed him down, but he often showed flashes that kept fans enthralled. In six seasons, Michael appeared in 38 games and only had 256 rushes, but he averaged 4.3 yards per carry during that time. He impressed enough to last six years in the NFL, but not enough to ever break out.

The first day of the inaugural XFL draft took place on Tuesday, and it brought Michael back onto the radar. The St. Louis BattleHawks spent there first round pick, No. 6 overall in the skill position group, on Michael. They added former Florida running back Matt Jones in the seventh round, and while he’ll push Michael in training camp, this seems like a chance for Michael to break back onto the sort of national scene.

And Seahawks (and fantasy football) fans are pumped. If you can find yourself someone who stan for you like Seahawks and fantasy football fans do for Michael, you’re a lucky person.

It remains to be seen if the XFL will last beyond this first season, but if Seahawks fans are looking to track Christine Michael, make sure you load up on some BattleHawks apparel.
