Baker Mayfield has hip injury, but should not miss practice

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is banged up, but appears to be in good enough shape heading into the Browns bye. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Cleveland Browns have a bye this week, and it is coming at an opportune time. Quarterback Baker Mayfield briefly left Sunday’s Week 6 game against the Seattle Seahawks but returned without missing a play. He went to the locker room with the medical staff and then returned. After the game he said his hip was painful but it wasn’t going to keep him from returning to the game.

On Monday, head coach Freddie Kitchens told local media that Mayfield is fine and he does not think the quarterback will miss any practice time.

Fantasy football analysis, Browns QB Baker Mayfield

It’s been a rough season for Mayfield after coming in with high expectations. He actually put up decent fantasy numbers in the loss to Seattle, but it might be a mirage. He threw three interceptions, but made up for it with 35 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. He had no rushing touchdowns last season, and only once rushed for more than Sunday’s total. It could be an outlier, and with the Patriots, Broncos, and Bills defense lined up after the bye, it’s hard to justify starting him in fantasy leagues — even if he is healthy.
