Key Giants offensive players return to practice for Week 7

The Giants returned to practice on Monday for Week 7, and had Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, and Wayne Gallman all working out. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The New York Giants had a couple days off following their Week 6 Thursday Night Football loss to the New England Patriots, and on Monday they returned to practice. The first injury report for Week 7 will not arrive until Wednesday, but there are some positive signs for the Giants. Running backs Saquon Barkley and Wayne Gallman, tight end Evan Engram, wide receiver Sterling Shepard all were practicing in individual drills on Monday, according to team reporter Ralph Vacchiano.

Last week, Gallman and Shepard did not practice at all, Barkley was listed as limited all week, and Engram sat out Monday and Wednesday while getting in a limited Tuesday. All four were ruled out Wednesday afternoon the day before their game against the Patriots.

Fantasy football implications, Giants offense

It’s too early to project who of these four will play on Sunday when the Giants host the Arizona Cardinals. Barkley is finishing up rehab of his high ankle sprain, Gallman and Shepard are in the concussion protocol, and Engram sprained his MCL. All four could very well come down to Friday’s final injury report before we even know if they’re officially questionable for the game. I expect multiple game-time decisions this coming Sunday.

The Giants offense last Thursday was Golden Tate and not much else. The Giants defense gave the Patriots offense problems, but their own offense could get nothing going outside of Tate. Daniel Jones would be in such a better position with just Barkley back, but if he can get Engram and Shepard as well, suddenly this offense with the addition of Golden Tate is looking rather interesting.
